NORO 1 Skein Triangle Shawl                                                                                                                                  

Yarn: Noro Taiyo Sport (350-400 yds. any Noro DK or Worsted)                       

Needles: US7 or US8
Abbrev: K – Knit,  P – Purl, 
CO – Cast On,  pm – place marker,  slm – slip marker,  
K2tog – Knit 2 together, BO – Bind off,  YO – Yarn Over,  St st – Stockinette stitch ,  ssk – slip, slip, knit
Shawl
CO 3 sts    K 6 rows
Turn work 90 degrees, PU 3 sts along side of tab, turn work 90 degrees, PU 3 sts along CO edge. (9sts)
Set up row (RS): k3, pm, YO, k1, YO, pm, k1, pm, YO, k1, YO, pm, k3.
Row 1(WS): k3, slm, YO, p to last marker, YO, slm, k3.
Row2 (RS): k3, slm, YO, k to next marker, YO, slm, k1, slm, YO, k to next marker, YO, slm, k3.   * each RS row always increases by 4 sts.
Repeat rows 1 and 2 until approximately 130 sts. (about 60 rows). This is a large stockinette section. To add texture to this section, we did 5 garter ridges throughout. 
Creating Garter ridges in Stockinette section:  Purl (if you are facing right side of work) one row when a good contrasting color change comes up in your yarn. If you are facing wrong side, then knit that row. Add this texture row approximately every 1.5 inches.
Lace Section: (consists of 4 row repeat)
Row 1: (RS): k3, slm, YO, K1, (YO,k2tog) to 1 st from marker, k1, YO, slm, k1, slm, YO, k1, (ssk, YO) to 1 st from marker, k1, YO, slm, k3.
Row 2: (WS): k3, slm, YO, p1, k2tog, (YO, k2tog) to 1 st from marker, YO, k1, slm, p1, slm, p1, YO, (ssk, YO) to 3 sts from marker, ssk, p1, YO, slm, k3.
Row 3: (RS): k3, slm, YO, K2, YO, (k2tog, YO) to 3 sts from marker, k2tog, k1, YO, slm, k1, slm, YO, k1, ssk, (YO, ssk) to 2 sts from marker, YO, k2, YO, slm, k3.
Row 4: (WS): k3, slm, YO, p2, k2tog, YO, (k2tog, YO) to 3 sts from marker, k2tog, YO, p1, slm, p1, slm, p1, YO, ssk, (YO, ssk) to 4 sts from marker, YO, ssk, p2, YO, slm, k3.
Repeat rows 1 – 4 a total of 3 to 5 times depending on your yarn amount.
Finish shawl with 1 to 2 garter ridges, leaving enough yarn for BO.
Loosely Bind off.
